The purpose of this course is to educate healthcare personnel working with adults on the risks, strategies, and skills necessary to handle cardiopulmonary emergencies.

The ACLS Provider Course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest.

ACLS Initial Course

This course is for Physicians, Nurses, Emergency Medical Providers and other allied health professionals who may have a need to respond to a cardiovascular emergency. All participants must have a current (not expired) Health Care Provider BLS card.

Before Your Class

PreCourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work
Complete the online PreCourse Work and Self-Assessment at elearning.heart.org/course. This is mandatory for class. You will need to setup an account through elearning.heart.org if you have not previously registered on the website. Access the online ACLS PreCourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work and select Launch Course to begin. Please print out your completion form and bring a copy of your results to the first day of class. You WILL need an ACLS book to complete the online portion.
American Heart Association ACLS Course Information
MHS Employees and NMC students can pick up their borrowed text at the Clark building front desk. You do not need to contact us prior to picking up, for front desk hours please call (402) 354-7000. **ALL borrowed texts MUST be returned to the instructor the day of class.

AHA is offering an option of pre-course work. It reviews the concepts that will be taught in class and allows you to be better prepared to participate for the in-person ACLS class. It is recommended for students that do not utilize advanced life support techniques often in their healthcare provider role. This optional course is available at ACLS precourse self-assessment and precourse work within the AHA elearning site.

American Heart Association ACLS Course Information

Skills checks are for those individuals who have completed the American Heart Association Heartcode ACLS eLearning course and require skills practice and testing for certification.

Book

The American Heart Association requires you bring the text to class with you. Please return your borrowed text to your instructor immediately following class.

Pretest

Please print out your completion form and bring a copy of your results to the first day of class. You WILL need an ACLS book to complete your online pre-test.

Course Cancellations

We reserve the right to cancel class due to insufficient registrations. If you have questions regarding class cancellations due to weather, please check the email you registered with for class for updates.

Participant Cancellations

Should you need to cancel, you must do so at least five business days prior to your scheduled course. No call, no show will be required to pay for a rescheduled course.

Licensure
If you are using this course toward your licensure, please keep a copy of your card/certification in your personal file. Nebraska Methodist College does not award continuing education units for AHA courses. In order to determine the amount of credit offered/accepted, you will need to contact your state licensing board.
Health Issues

The manikins are latex and could cause an allergic reaction. Please inform the instructor if accommodations need to be made.
