Admissions Information

Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission into our post-doctoral certificate program, you must meet all of the following criteria.
  • Doctoral degree with a health-related focus.
  • Health or healthcare policy graduate-level course completed in the last five years.  If none, IDS 754, Healthcare Policy will be added to the plan of study.

This course focuses on the leadership of complex organizations and the skills and qualities leaders need to guide organizations. Students will delve into principles, concepts and major theories of leadership. Through reflection upon their own leadership styles and behavioral tendencies, students will apply course content to a variety of situations and problems.

Legal and Ethical Issues in Organizations

This course examines legal and ethical issues specific to academic and health care organizations. Through analysis of corporate citizenship and accreditation standards, students will be better prepared to ensure businesses operate in an ethical and legal framework.

Organizational Change and Accountability
DETAILS

This course introduces strategies for transforming organizations. Students will explore concepts including organizational awareness, relationship building, and issues around accountability in organizational settings. The course explores how to generate creative ideas using mindsets and practices exhibited by successful innovators. Students will develop a good working knowledge of various models, frameworks, and theories that explain how organizational change occurs.

Organizational Outcomes and Sustainability
DETAILS

This course equips students with concepts and strategies necessary to analyze system performance, healthcare outcomes, and evaluate impact. Students will make evidence-based recommendations for interventions based on data. Students will develop skills to design a comprehensive plan for quality improvement and organizational sustainability.

Healthcare Finance
DETAILS

This course focuses on the fundamentals of healthcare finance and its relationship to financial and managerial accounting practices. Through examination of the basic foundations of health care finance, students gain practical knowledge and apply financial management theory and principles in facilitating decision-making that promotes the financial well-being of organizations.
