Certified Phlebotomy Technician

As a certified Phlebotomist, you’ll collect, transport, handle and process blood and other specimens for medical analysis. You’ll draw blood using various phlebotomy techniques. You’ll work with both patients and other healthcare professionals.
Phlebotomists work in settings as varied as physician offices and medical clinics, hospitals and commercial laboratories.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, phlebotomists in the United States had a median salary of $38,530 per year ($18.53 per hour) in May 2022, with a much faster than average projected job growth of 8 percent between 2022 and 2032.
This course is a 9 week hybrid training course then a 3 week clinical experience. The hybrid course consists of online lectures and assignments as well as on-campus labs and clinical experiences in the community. Point of care testing is also included in the course curriculum. Students will come to campus for three hours each week to complete hands-on skills and participate in class activities and discussions. Students need to be prepared to spend 7-10 hours online each week plus 3 hours in lab. The 8-hour clinical days are required Monday thru Friday for a total of 40 hours a week during the 3 weeks of clinical. The course provides extensive hands on training and practical instruction in phlebotomy techniques. Apply for the phlebotomy certification program at least one week prior to the class start date.
Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the national certification exam, which is crucial for employment opportunities and nationwide certification validation.
