TRIO Upward Bound Math-Science is a federally funded college preparation program through the Department of Education that focuses on math and science. NMC first received Upward Bound Math-Science funding in the 2017-18 academic year.
History:
The Department of Education created the Upward Bound Math/Science program in 1990 to address the need for specific instruction in math and science. Upward Bound Math and Science is one of several federally funded TRIO programs currently funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act (HEA).
Population Served:
We serve 60 low-income and potential first-generation students who have an academic need for our program. Upward Bound Math-Science is designed to strengthen students' math and science skills with a view toward encouraging these students to pursue college degrees in math and science, and eventually, careers in math and science professions.
